Wind Energy: Resource for the Future?
The world is addicted to electrical power. As world oil prices increase there has been a shift from oil-fired electricity generation to natural gas and nuclear power. Growing concerns about greenhouse gas emissions have caused renewed interest in alternate energy sources. How to meet our ever-increasing energy demands without ruining our environment is the critical challenge of the new century. Harnessing the wind is one practical solution to this very real problem. There is great potential in generating electrical energy from the wind on offshore sites and in the plains states. How will we be able to develop this potential to meet our future needs?
